    • ¥200,000 for 1–2 years
    • ¥180,000 for 3 years
    • ¥150,000 for 4–5 years

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Honjo International Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Language Proficiency: Be able to communicate in Japanese (interviews are conducted in Japanese).
  2. Citizenship: Be from a country other than Japan.
  3. Age Limits:
    • Master’s applicants: Must begin their program before turning 30.
    • PhD applicants: Must start their program before turning 35.
  4. Educational Requirements:
    • For Master’s: Undergraduate degree.
    • For PhD: Master’s degree or equivalent.
  5. Commitment to Home Country: Have a strong intention to contribute to their home country post-graduation.
  6. Cultural Understanding: Be committed to promoting international friendship and goodwill.

  2. Receive Your Application Number: Save the PDF of your application form for result announcements.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  1. Academic Transcripts: Undergraduate and any additional coursework records (photocopies acceptable).
  2. Scholarship Forms: Downloadable from the foundation’s website. Include a photo.
  3. Research Plan: Covering research goals, schedule, future aspirations, and past research (if applicable).
