Benefits

The TGRS provides comprehensive support for eligible candidates:

  • Stipend: AUD $28,597 per annum (indexed annually on January 1st)
  • Relocation Allowance: Up to AUD $2,000 to assist with moving to Tasmania
  • Additional Allowances: Minor awards, allowances, or other supplementary income, including earnings from part-time work (within university guidelines)

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Required Language: Proficiency in English
  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants from all countries
  • Education: Applicants must have completed at least four years of tertiary education with an upper second-class Honours degree or equivalent
  • Research: Applicants must be enrolling full-time in a Masters or PhD research degree in 2024
  • Other Scholarships: Candidates must not be in receipt of another equivalent award, scholarship, or salary that exceeds 75% of the base stipend rate
  • Previous Qualifications: Those who have already completed a degree at the same or higher level, or held an Australian Government or University-funded Postgraduate Research Award for more than six months, are still eligible to apply but will not be prioritised in the selection process

    Applicants must apply in collaboration with their supervisory team. It is important to indicate on the application if you wish to be considered for the TGRS.

Important Dates

  • Program Period: PhD: 3.5 years with no extension available. It is important to be aware that the duration of the scholarship is less than the maximum length of candidature which is 4 years.
