The Elks National Foundation Scholarship Program is one of the most prominent initiatives aimed at supporting young students in their pursuit of higher education. Established by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, this scholarship program is committed to making education accessible for deserving students across the United States.


Benefits

The Elks National Foundation Scholarship Program offers the following benefits:

  • Scholarship Awards: A total of 500 four-year scholarships will be granted to the top applicants in the 2025 competition.
  • Monetary Range: Scholarships vary from $1,000 to $12,500 per year and are designated for students pursuing a four-year degree on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours) at an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • Award Conditions: Scholarships are provided as certificates of award, contingent upon the recipient's full-time enrollment in a U.S. institution.
  • Announcement Timeline: The 500 national winners will be announced by the Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation in late April 2025.

Note: Local Lodges, districts, and state Elks associations may also award their own scholarships through this program, which are separate from the 500 Most Valuable Student Scholarships provided by the Elks National Foundation.


Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Elks National Foundation Scholarship Program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: United States
  • Eligibility: Current high school seniors (or the equivalent) who are U.S. citizens can apply.
  • Membership: Applicants do not need to have an affiliation with an Elks member.
  • High School Graduates: High school graduates are not eligible.
  • Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens at the time of application submission; permanent legal residents are not eligible.
