Benefits
Sir James McNeill Postgraduate Research Scholarship will provide
- Annual living allowance: $50,291.
- Relocation allowance: $2,000.
- Research allowance per annum: $1,500.
Eligibility Criteria
English Language Test Requirements:
- General Requirements: IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 (no individual band below 6.0), or TOEFL with a score of 79+ (Reading: 13, Listening: 12, Speaking: 18, Writing: 21).
- For Arts, Business, and Economics: IELTS with an overall score of 7.0 (no individual band below 6.5), or TOEFL with a score of 94+ (Reading: 19, Listening: 20, Speaking: 20, Writing: 24).

- International students
- New Zealand citizens
- Australian citizens
- Australian permanent residents
- Australian humanitarian visa holders
Additional Requirements:
- Confirm that you meet the admission qualifications for a research master’s in your field of study.
- Possess qualifications deemed equivalent by the Graduate Research Committee (GRC).
- Scholarships are awarded based on academic record, research output, and previous research experience.
- Must not have previously held an Australian Government or Monash-funded Postgraduate Research Award for more than six months.
- Must have submitted a scholarship application within the current year.
- Conduct research that is environmentally responsible and socially beneficial.
Application Process
Application Instructions for the Sir James McNeill Postgraduate Research Scholarship:
- Obtain an Invitation to Apply: Before applying, you need an invitation. To receive one, you must complete an expression of interest and/or connect with a supervisor who agrees to oversee your research, depending on the faculty or institute’s requirements.
- Register and Apply: Register for Graduate Research Admission and Scholarship by clicking “Apply Now.”

- Scholarship Consideration: Indicate on the application form that you want to be considered for a scholarship. A separate scholarship application form is not required.
- Automatic Consideration for Scholarships: You will automatically be considered for all eligible graduate research scholarships without needing to specify each one.
