Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship 2025-2026 (Fully-Funded)
Applications for the 2025-2026 Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship are officially open!
This fellowship targets mid-career professionals in India who show clear leadership potential in cybersecurity or cyber policy. It is sponsored by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office. Cranfield University, located at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom (Shrivenham Campus), hosts the fellowship.
This ten-week fellowship is tailored to meet the needs of mid-career professionals, policymakers, and technical experts who are looking to deepen their understanding of cybersecurity policy, risk management, and governance. During the program, fellows will develop an individual research paper to be presented at the conclusion of the course. The fellowship takes place from mid-March to the end of May.
The fellowship will emphasize:
- Cyber threats, covering the threat landscape, threat and risk assessments, implications for national security, the significance of internet governance structures, and the safeguarding of critical national infrastructure.
- The economics of online business, focusing on cybersecurity consumer awareness and protection, challenges in technology adoption, the importance of open-source solutions, and effective technology use by consumers.
- Cybercrime and internet law, examining the economic effects of cybercrime, both domestic and international strategies for combating it, concerns related to internet law and law enforcement, privacy issues, the responsible use of social media, and accountability in the digital space.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship and Residency:
- The applicant must be a citizen of India and should currently reside in the country.
- Return to your country of citizenship at the end of the period of the fellowship.
- Not hold British or dual-British citizenship.
- Academic and Professional Background:
- Have a postgraduate level qualification and an excellent academic background in science, engineering, or technology, or equivalent professional training, or experience in a relevant area at the time of application.
- Minimum of 7 years of work experience in cybersecurity or a related domain such as IT, law, policy, or research.
- A strong track record of professional achievement, including contributions to cybersecurity projects, research, or policy initiatives.
- Not be an employee, a former employee, or relative of an employee of His Majesty’s Government, or have been within the last two years from the opening of Chevening applications (including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, all British Embassies/High Commissions, the Home Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade and the UKVI), the British Council, a sponsoring UK university, or a staff member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
- English Language Proficiency:
- Have a good working knowledge of English to be assessed in your application form and if you are invited to interview.
- Leadership and Networking Potential:
- Candidates should have the capacity to lead and influence in their field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with evidence of leadership experience in their professional or academic background.
