Clark University, a prestigious institution located in Worcester, Massachusetts, is well-regarded for its commitment to providing a rigorous education paired with social responsibility. Recognizing the financial challenges students face, Clark University offers various scholarships to help deserving students pursue their academic and career goals without financial barriers. The Clark Global Scholarship Program (GSP) at Clark University is designed to support high-achieving international students committed to making a difference. Located in Worcester, Massachusetts, Clark University has a strong history of fostering a global perspective among its students and encouraging diverse voices. The Global Scholarship Program is a central part of this mission, providing financial assistance to international students who show outstanding academic performance, leadership skills, and a dedication to positively impacting their communities.

Benefits

  • If admitted to the Global Scholars Program, you will receive a scholarship of $15,000 to $25,000 per year (for four years, contingent upon meeting academic standards for renewal).
  • If your financial need is greater than the amount of the Global Scholars award, you may be eligible for up to an additional $5,000 in need-based financial aid.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All world countries.
  • To be eligible, you must be a first-year applicant (not a transfer student) who has attended school overseas for at least four years. Clark also will consider international citizens attending school in the United States.
  • You also should have demonstrated the potential to provide leadership in your community and the world and to commit to making a difference.
  • You need to show good academic results and other activities.
  • Your eligibility for scholarships depends on your academic achievement (those indicated on your application for admission), not on your family need. However, international students who may qualify for scholarships are still expected to demonstrate the ability to cover a significant percentage of the cost of their education. This includes students who wish to be considered for the Presidential LEEP Scholarship or the Global Scholars Program.

Application Process

  • Apply for Admission: All applicants must first complete the Clark University admission application. The application should include academic transcripts, test scores (if required), letters of recommendation, and a personal statement or essay.

  • Automatic Consideration for Certain Scholarships: Many scholarships, such as the Clark Merit Scholarship and Jonas Clark Scholarship, do not require a separate application. Once students submit their application for admission, they are automatically considered for these scholarships based on their qualifications.

  • Submit Separate Applications for Select Scholarships: For scholarships like the Presidential Scholarship, students need to submit a separate application, which may include additional materials like essays, recommendation letters, and evidence of leadership experience.

  • Essay Requirements: Some scholarships require a supplemental essay. For example, international students applying for the Global Scholars Program may be asked to write an essay describing their passion for making a difference in their home community.

  • Interviews: Certain highly competitive scholarships, such as the Presidential Scholarship, may involve an interview as part of the selection process. This interview provides students with an opportunity to showcase their passion, leadership skills, and commitment to Clark’s mission.
