The Maria Reiche Postdoctoral Fellowship empowers early-career women researchers by giving them the financial support and academic freedom to:
Develop an independent research profile
Secure third-party funding for a research project (e.g., DFG Emmy Noether Program, ERC Starting Grant, DFG Heisenberg Program)
Progress from a recognized researcher to an established academic, ideally positioning themselves for a professorship
This initiative contributes to promoting gender equality in academia and increasing the presence of women in top-level research roles.
Funding Type:
A full-time scholarship at Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden) dedicated to preparing a proposal for a third-party-funded project – the crucial step toward a research-based academic career.
Additional Support (Maria Reiche Starter Kit):
Up to EUR 10,000 for academic development activities, such as:
Conference participation and scientific networking
Costs related to research publications and consumables
Inviting international speakers
Organizing academic workshops or symposia
Hiring student assistants
Enrolling in interdisciplinary or career-focused training
Monthly stipend: €2,670
Family allowance: €400 for the first child, €100 for each additional child
Workplace setup grant: Up to €2,500 for basic research infrastructure at TU Dresden
Fellowship Duration: Maximum of 24 months, based on fund availability

To be eligible, applicants must:
