If you're a student who dreams of exploring the cosmos, working with top scientists, or simply fascinated by innovation in science and technology, NASA's 2025 internship program is your launchpad. These paid internships, offered by NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM), are designed to give high school and college students hands-on experience in real-world projects—ranging from space missions to cutting-edge research in technology, science, and beyond.
At NASA, every day is about pushing the boundaries of the possible. Interns don’t just observe—they actively contribute to groundbreaking work that could shape the future of space exploration and life on Earth. The internships are not just for engineering or science students—non-STEM students are also encouraged to apply, with opportunities available in fields like business, communications, IT, and security.
NASA offers internships three times a year, each lasting approximately 10 weeks, either on-site at a NASA center or remotely.
Summer 2025 Deadline: February 28, 2025
Fall 2025 Deadline: May 16, 2025
During the program, interns will work side-by-side with NASA experts, participate in real missions, and contribute to meaningful projects that have global significance.
To qualify for a NASA OSTEM internship, students must meet the following criteria:
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be at least 16 years old at the time of application
Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Be currently enrolled full-time in high school or college, or part-time college (minimum 6 semester hours)
Have completed at least 15 semester hours (or 23 quarter hours) prior to applying
While STEM students are highly encouraged to apply, NASA offers internship roles beyond engineering, including:
